The EuroBasket 2009 will be the 36th EuroBasket, the biennial regional basketball championship contested by European nations and held by FIBA Europe. The tournament, which will be hosted by Poland, will begin on 7 September 2009 and will conclude with the final on 20 September 2009. The competition serves as a qualification tournament for the 2010 FIBA World Championship.

Traditional open-air celebrations of Christmas Eve. For the last few years all are invited to Dlugi Targ to celebrate the common Christmas Eve. The tables are covered with white tableclothes, hay, bread, angels giving out Christmas wafer, retinue of singing carollers, Christmas wishes wished during carols resounded from carillon of the Main City Town Hall. One could venture to say that it is a holiday of freedom, as this variation of jazz is a pure outburst of liberty. It has as many dedicated fans as bitter opponents. Artists working with this style are either doted on or denigrated. Miles Davis mocked the “free” and Tomasz Stańko revelled in it for many years
